What makes good fast food packaging?
Good fast food packaging keeps food at the right temperature, stops grease and sauce from soaking through, stacks in a delivery bag without collapsing, and carries your brand. If fries go limp or a burger box turns soggy, the customer blames the restaurant, not the box.
- Temperature — corrugated kraft and molded bagasse insulate hot food; vented designs let steam escape.
- Grease and leaks — a PLA or PE lining, or the molded fiber itself, keeps oil and sauce inside.
- Transport — rigid, stackable boxes and flat-bottom bags survive couriers and delivery apps.
- Branding — the box is your first media channel once the order leaves the counter.
- Food safety — every item that touches food must be food-contact safe.
Which packaging for which fast food concept?
Each concept has its own constraint, so Direct Eco Green builds kits rather than single items. Use this table as a starting checklist.
| Concept | Key constraint | Recommended items |
|---|---|---|
| Burger | Heat, condensation | Kraft burger boxes, fry boxes, paper cups |
| Kebab, wraps, tacos | Grease and sauce | Kraft + PLA wrap, taco and kebab packaging (MOQ 20,000), wide kraft bags |
| Pizzeria | Steam, rigid base | 3- or 5-layer corrugated pizza boxes (MOQ 10,000) |
| Noodles, pasta, rice | Hot sauce, broth | Pasta and noodle boxes (MOQ 5,000), bagasse bowls |
| Salad, poke | Visibility, leaks | Kraft salad bowls with lids, salad boxes with window lid |
| Sandwich shop | Display, speed | Kraft food pouches and sandwich wrap paper |
| Food truck | Storage space | Flat-packed boxes, bagasse containers, kraft bags |
Materials compared for quick-service packaging
Direct Eco Green works mainly with kraft paper, corrugated board, paperboard and sugarcane bagasse for fast food, plus PET or PP lids where a clear or tight closure is needed. Environmental claims must be qualified, as the FTC Green Guides require.
| Material | Heat | Grease | End of life (qualified) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kraft corrugated board | Good insulation | Good | Recyclable where facilities exist, when not heavily soiled |
| Kraft + PLA lining | Good | Very good | Commercially compostable where facilities accept it; not curbside recyclable in most US programs |
| PE-coated paperboard | Good | Very good | Accepted in some recycling programs; check locally |
| Sugarcane bagasse | Very good | Very good | Commercially compostable where facilities accept it |
| PET lids | Cold only | Full barrier | Recyclable where facilities exist |
PFAS laws, Canada's plastics ban and compostable claims
Direct Eco Green fast food packaging gets its grease barrier from PLA film, PE film, an aqueous coating or the molded fiber itself, not from fluorinated treatments. State PFAS laws now ban intentionally added PFAS in food packaging in New York, California, Washington, Vermont, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island and Hawaii, and in February 2024 the FDA announced that PFAS grease-proofing substances are no longer being sold for food-contact use in the US. Ask for the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote.
In Canada, the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations (SOR/2022-138) ban foodservice ware, cutlery and straws made from problematic plastics such as expanded polystyrene and black plastic made with carbon black; sale bans have applied since December 20, 2023, and the Federal Court of Appeal upheld the underlying listing on January 30, 2026. Paper, bagasse and wood items sit outside the ban. To print "compostable", you need certification to ASTM D6400 or ASTM D6868 (typically through BPI) or CAN/BNQ 0017-088 in Canada; tell us which one your market requires and we confirm which factory reference can document it before you order.
Custom printed and private label packaging for chains
Direct Eco Green prints your logo and brand colors at the factory, on boxes, cups, bags and wraps, so a chain gets one consistent look across every item. Custom sizes, private label and samples before mass production are available, and the full kit can ship together. Known minimums: fry, wrap and kebab packaging 20,000 pieces; pizza boxes, salad and catering boxes and bagasse containers 10,000 pieces; pasta boxes 5,000 pieces. For other items, MOQ depends on material, size and printing and is stated in your quote.
Why fast food brands buy factory-direct from Direct Eco Green
Direct Eco Green is a manufacturer and sourcing partner, not a distributor. It has been based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, for more than seven years, close to its partner factories, and it inspects production on site before shipping.

| Cost on high-volume orders | Resale margin included | Lower total cost of ownership |

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for custom fast food packaging?
Direct Eco Green minimums depend on the item: 20,000 pieces for fry, wrap and kebab packaging, 10,000 for pizza boxes and bagasse containers, and 5,000 for pasta boxes. For other fast food packaging, the MOQ depends on material, size and printing and is stated in your quote.
Is Direct Eco Green fast food packaging PFAS-free?
The grease barrier on Direct Eco Green fast food packaging comes from PLA film, PE film, an aqueous coating or molded fiber, not from fluorinated treatments. Buyers can request the factory's PFAS declaration with their quote to document compliance with state PFAS laws.
Can kraft burger and fry boxes be recycled?
Plain kraft corrugated burger boxes are recyclable where facilities exist, as long as they are not heavily soiled. Kraft fry and wrap packaging with a PLA lining is designed for commercial composting where facilities accept it and is not curbside recyclable in most US programs.
Is this fast food packaging allowed under Canada's single-use plastics ban?
Yes. Canada's Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations target foodservice ware made from problematic plastics such as expanded polystyrene, PVC, oxo-degradable plastic and carbon-black plastic. Direct Eco Green's paper, board, bagasse and wood fast food packaging is outside those bans.
Can I mix burger boxes, cups and bags in one order?
Yes. Direct Eco Green consolidates items from several partner factories into one shipment, so a restaurant chain can order boxes, cups, cutlery and printed bags together with one point of contact.
