Both shapes are made in 3-layer corrugated board for everyday take-out or 5-layer corrugated board for larger pizzas, heavier toppings and longer delivery runs. The corrugated structure insulates the pizza so it stays warm on the way to the customer, and the inner board is designed to avoid dust settling on the food.

Materials, food contact and end of life
Direct Eco Green pizza boxes are made from corrugated cardboard, a paper-based material, produced with food-contact grade board; ask for the factory's food-contact declaration with your quote. The boxes do not rely on fluorinated (PFAS) grease-proofing; ask for the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote.
- Clean corrugated cardboard is recyclable where facilities exist, and corrugated is collected in many programs.
- Food-soiled sections are handled differently from one program to the next; check local guidance before printing a recycling instruction.
- Paper and board grades can be supplied FSC-certified under Direct Eco Green's license FSC C204557.
Compliance for the US and Canada
Intentionally added PFAS are banned in food packaging by state laws in New York, California, Washington, Vermont, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island and Hawaii, and in February 2024 the US FDA announced that PFAS grease-proofing substances are no longer sold for food-contact use — so request the PFAS declaration for every reference. In Canada, cardboard pizza boxes are outside the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations, which target foodservice ware made from problematic plastics. If you print a recycling symbol or "recyclable" claim, it must meet California SB 343 criteria and the FTC Green Guides.
