Products for this need

Why chocolate and candy need specialist packaging

Chocolate and candy packaging must protect a product that is sensitive to heat, humidity, light, odors and impact, while selling it as a gift. Poor packaging shows up as fat bloom, cracked shells or a chocolate that tastes of its surroundings.

  • Barrier — limit moisture, light and odor transfer to protect texture and flavor.
  • Protection — inserts, dividers and paper cups keep pralines and truffles from knocking together.
  • Rigidity — heavy board resists stacking in bags and vibration during delivery.
  • Unboxing — magnetic lids, sleeves and drawer boxes raise perceived value for gifting seasons.
  • Food contact — materials touching chocolate must be food-contact safe.

Food-contact safety and claims in the US and Canada

Direct Eco Green confectionery packaging is food-contact safe, and any grease resistance comes from the board grade, a film or an aqueous coating rather than fluorinated treatments. State PFAS laws ban intentionally added PFAS in food packaging in New York, California, Washington, Vermont, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island and Hawaii, so ask for the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote. Mineral-oil-free inks are available on request; ask when you send your artwork. If you print a recyclable claim or the chasing-arrows symbol, check it against California SB 343.

Seasonal ranges, custom printing and factory-direct supply

Direct Eco Green helps chocolatiers plan holiday, Valentine's Day and Easter ranges with custom printed boxes, tins and bags made to their own sizes, colors and finishes, including private label. As a manufacturer rather than a distributor, it produces in audited partner factories in Asia and Europe, checks quality on site and consolidates boxes, tins and bags in one shipment, which lowers the total cost of ownership on high-volume orders. Candy and dessert boxes start at 1,000 pieces; for other items, MOQ depends on material, size and printing and is stated in your quote.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for custom chocolate boxes?

Direct Eco Green produces candy and dessert boxes from 1,000 pieces. For chocolate gift boxes, ballotins, tins and tubes, the MOQ depends on material, size and printing and is stated in your quote.

What sizes of chocolate ballotins does Direct Eco Green make?

Direct Eco Green produces ballotins from 125 g to 1 kg. A 250 g ballotin typically holds 18 to 24 chocolates, and a 500 g ballotin 36 to 48, depending on piece size.

Are Direct Eco Green chocolate boxes FSC certified?

Paper and board chocolate boxes can be supplied with the FSC Mix or FSC Recycled label under Direct Eco Green's FSC license C204557. Tell us in your request that you need FSC-labeled board.

Can I order printed tins for cookies and candy?

Yes. Direct Eco Green manufactures food-contact tinplate boxes in square, rectangular and round shapes, with or without a window, printed in CMYK, PMS or both. New shapes can be produced from a new mold.

Is tin or cardboard better for chocolate packaging?

Cardboard is lighter, cheaper and easier to print for everyday ballotins and gift boxes. Tinplate blocks light completely, is very durable and is often kept by customers, which makes it a strong choice for cookies, candy and limited editions.
