Materials, food contact and end of life
Direct Eco Green bakery and candy boxes are paper-based, and paper and board grades can be supplied FSC-certified under license FSC C204557 (FSC Mix or FSC Recycled labels). For food that touches the box directly, specify it in your request so the factory confirms a food-contact safe grade.
- Unlaminated kraft or ivory board is the simplest option for paper recycling streams, recyclable where facilities exist.
- Matte-laminated boxes look more premium, but the laminate film can make recycling harder; check with your local program before printing a recyclable claim.
If greasy pastries need a barrier, ask for one without fluorinated chemistry: state PFAS laws in New York, California, Washington, Vermont and other states ban intentionally added PFAS in food packaging. Ask for the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote.
Compliance for the US and Canada
Paper-based cake and candy boxes are outside Canada's Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations, which target foodservice ware made from expanded polystyrene, PVC, oxo-degradable and carbon-black plastics. In the US, the FTC Green Guides require recyclable and recycled-content claims to be qualified, and California SB 343 restricts the chasing-arrows symbol and "recyclable" claims to materials that meet state criteria. Mineral-oil-free inks are available on request — ask when you send your artwork.
