Discover the main types of materials we use for our recyclable and ecological food packaging:

Sugar cane bagasse

Still not very well known by the general public, sugarcane bagasse has everything to please. This fibrous residue comes from the crushing of sugar cane, during the extraction of the juice. Instead of throwing away this cellulose waste and generating additional pollution, it is recovered and used to manufacture this material.

We could call this material bio-plastic, even if the comparison with plastic stops there. Indeed, bagasse is 100% natural, it is a biosourced product. It is even more resistant than cardboard, and has many properties for the food sector: suitable for food contact, suitable for liquid and dry foods, perfectly supports hot and cold or resistant to fats and sauces.

Sugar cane bagasse can be found in various uses, such as plates, cups, food trays, napkins, straws, trays, cutlery (knives, forks, spoons) …. for both single use and biodegradable packaging.

Sugar cane bagasse is definitely a perfect material for ecological, responsible, biodegradable and compostable packaging.

Bamboo

Bamboo is a plant that is well known to consumers, and is beginning to make inroads into food packaging. In addition to a functional form, bamboo offers a certain form of visual impact. Easy to recognize, it also appears in a noble way.

And bamboo offers many properties and qualities: it is both a robust and flexible plant, which grows without pesticides or fertilizers. In other words, we are in the presence of a 100% natural product, with a beautiful durability and a perfect resistance. Moreover, it is a recyclable and compostable material.

This is why we use bamboo for our range of bowls, trays, straws and cutlery. While they can be used for single use, our bamboo products can also be reused.

Kraft

Kraft is easily recognized by its brown color. It is above all an ecological paper for multiple use and very resistant. It is made from a mixture of paper pulp and wood, which explains its color.

Kraft can be found in many uses for food packaging. It must be said that its strong resistance makes it a strong argument, it does not require many resources for its manufacture. As for the previous materials, it is recyclable, biodegradable and compostable. In addition, it does not require any toxic additives to manufacture.

Kraft can be used in packaging such as sandwich paper, food pouches, bags, salad boxes, food trays, burger/hot dog boxes and cups. It is possible to customize it, and to dye it in a white color.

Cardboard

Cardboard is another essential food packaging material that has many qualities. Besides its great resistance, it is a recyclable, compostable and biodegradable material.

Very cheap and solid, it is for these reasons that it is used in the world of packaging for a long time. With a special treatment to be suitable for food contact, the cardboard is ideal for many uses.

At Direct Eco Green, we use cardboard for our pizza packaging, but also for pasta and noodle boxes.

Coffee grounds

A packaging made of coffee grounds? This may surprise. But coffee grounds are one of our main ingredients for the manufacture of some of our food trays, but also for our cups, mugs and tumblers.

For these products, 49% of the material comes from recycled coffee grounds. The coffee grounds are then combined with a PP/PE resin to give them their strength and final appearance.

Although surprising, this product is innovative and entirely recyclable. Moreover, it allows the reuse of coffee waste. More than ecological, it is a truly sustainable material. We can count on a lifespan of our coffee grounds cups and mugs of about 2 to 3 years on average. An eco-responsible product to discover!

Coconut

If the coconut is popular, both in the food industry and in cosmetics, it generates a lot of waste. And in particular the coconut shell. Rather than burning it and generating additional pollution, we might as well reuse it!

This is what we try to do for our bowls and salad bowls. Not content with using a material initially intended for the trash, it is here a 100% natural, elegant and recyclable material. Even better, it is biodegradable and recyclable.

Eco-responsible and original, the coconut shell has everything to please!
