Materials, PFAS and end of life
The grease barrier on Direct Eco Green paper salad bowls comes from a PLA lining, and on bamboo pulp bowls from the molded fiber itself — not from fluorinated treatments; ask for the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote. End of life differs by material, so describe each one precisely:
- Kraft + PLA and white paper + PLA bowls are designed for commercial composting where facilities accept them; PLA-lined paper is not curbside recyclable in most US programs.
- Bamboo pulp bowls are made from a renewable plant fiber and are commercially compostable where industrial facilities accept them.
- The coffee-grounds catering box contains PP/PE resin: it is not compostable and should be presented as a durable, rigid box, not a fiber product.
Compliance for the US and Canada
Intentionally added PFAS are banned in food packaging by state laws in New York, California, Washington, Vermont, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island and Hawaii. If you print "compostable", buyers will expect compostable certification (BPI / ASTM D6400 / ASTM D6868) in the US or CAN/BNQ 0017-088 in Canada — tell us which your market requires and we confirm, before you order, which factory reference can document it. In Canada, paper and fiber bowls are outside the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations, and the PP/PE coffee-grounds box does not use the problematic plastics they target.
