All three are food-contact grade, hold hot and saucy food, and close with four interlocking flaps that keep heat in and lids shut during delivery.
- Kraft + PLA, square base — natural brown kraft with a plant-based PLA lining. The most "natural" look, popular with poke, ramen and pasta concepts.
- Paperboard + double PE, round base — polyethylene film on both faces for the highest resistance to oil, broth and condensation.
- Ivory board, square base — a bright white surface that gives the sharpest print for full-color branding.
Beyond pasta and noodles, restaurants use the same boxes for fried rice, dumplings, mini cakes, muffins, quiche slices and cookies.

Materials, grease barriers and end of life
The grease and moisture barrier on Direct Eco Green pasta boxes comes from a PLA film, a PE film or the board itself — not from fluorinated (PFAS) treatments. That matters because intentionally added PFAS are now banned in food packaging in New York, California, Washington, Vermont, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island and Hawaii; ask for the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote.
Be precise about end of life when you market the box:
- Kraft + PLA is designed for commercial composting where facilities accept it. It is not accepted in most curbside recycling programs.
- Double PE board is accepted in some recycling programs for poly-coated paper; check with your local program.
- Ivory board without a plastic film is the simplest option for paper recycling streams.

Compliance for the US and Canada
For Canada, paper-based noodle boxes sit outside the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations, which target foodservice ware made from expanded polystyrene, PVC, oxo-degradable plastic and carbon-black plastics; the Federal Court of Appeal confirmed on January 30, 2026 that these rules remain in force. If you plan to print "compostable", your buyers will expect certification to ASTM D6868 (BPI) in the US or CAN/BNQ 0017-088 in Canada — tell us which one your market requires and we confirm, before you order, which factory reference can document it. Avoid unqualified "biodegradable" or "recyclable" claims: the FTC Green Guides and California SB 343 require claims to match what local facilities actually accept.
