Bagasse plates and trays for catering, events and retail
Direct Eco Green produces five families of bagasse tableware, all molded from the fibrous residue left after sugarcane is pressed for juice. They are single-use, food-contact grade and rigid enough to carry and present hot or cold dishes.
- Round bagasse plates for receptions, buffets and staff canteens.
- Oval bagasse plates for main courses and sharing platters.
- Bagasse trays for transporting and presenting prepared food.
- Sushi trays for sushi bars, supermarkets and delivery.
- Fruit and vegetable trays for produce packing and retail display.
Per the factory specification, bagasse plates and trays go in the microwave and the freezer. For grab-and-go or display, several references are also available with PET lids — see bagasse trays with PET lids.

Materials, PFAS and end of life
Bagasse is made from renewable sugarcane fiber, a by-product of sugar and juice production, and the molded plates are made without pesticides or toxic substances according to the factory. The grease resistance should come from the molded fiber itself, not from fluorinated treatments; ask for the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote, since many molded-fiber products historically relied on PFAS and state PFAS laws now ban intentionally added PFAS in food packaging.
- Bagasse plates are commercially compostable where industrial composting facilities accept them; home and municipal access varies.
- Food-soiled plates are generally not accepted in paper recycling.
- PET lids are a separate plastic component and must be described and disposed of separately.
Compliance for the US and Canada
Direct Eco Green helps you document bagasse tableware for North American buyers. Intentionally added PFAS are banned in food packaging by state laws in New York, California, Washington, Vermont, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island and Hawaii. For a "compostable" claim, US buyers expect certification to ASTM D6868 or ASTM D6400, typically through BPI, and Canada uses CAN/BNQ 0017-088. Tell us which certification your market requires and we confirm, before you order, which factory reference can document it.
In Canada, bagasse plates and containers are outside the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations, which ban foodservice ware made from expanded polystyrene, PVC, oxo-degradable plastic and carbon-black plastic; the Federal Court of Appeal confirmed on January 30, 2026 that the rules remain in force. Avoid unqualified "biodegradable" claims, which the FTC Green Guides do not accept.
Custom sizes, branding and private label
Direct Eco Green can develop a new mold for a custom plate or tray shape, and discuss branding options for your private label with your quote. Bagasse plates combine well in one shipment with bagasse bowls and containers and bagasse cutlery, so a caterer can source a full disposable set from one supplier. Samples are available before mass production.
Why buy bagasse tableware factory-direct from Direct Eco Green
Direct Eco Green is a manufacturer and sourcing partner, not a distributor: we work with audited molded-fiber factories, inspect production on site and consolidate plates, bowls and cutlery into one container. For wholesale and high-volume buyers, factory-direct sourcing lowers total cost of ownership and gives you control of specifications and documentation.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for bagasse plates and trays?
The minimum order for Direct Eco Green bagasse plates and trays is 10,000 pieces per reference. Custom sizes may require a new mold, which is discussed in your quote.
Are bagasse plates microwave and freezer safe?
According to the factory specification, Direct Eco Green bagasse plates and trays can be used in the microwave and the freezer. They hold both hot and cold food.
Are bagasse plates compostable?
Bagasse plates are commercially compostable where industrial composting facilities accept them. If you want to print a compostable claim, the reference needs certification such as ASTM D6868 or ASTM D6400 through BPI, or CAN/BNQ 0017-088 in Canada.
Are the bagasse trays PFAS-free?
Direct Eco Green specifies bagasse trays whose grease resistance comes from the molded fiber rather than from fluorinated additives. Ask for the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote to document compliance with state PFAS laws.
Are bagasse plates available with lids?
Yes. Several bagasse plate and tray references are available with clear PET lids for display and grab-and-go. The PET lid is a separate plastic component and should be labeled accordingly.
