Materials, food contact and end of life
The boxes are made from kraft paper, ivory board, corrugated paper and thick cardboard — renewable fiber materials that give a premium finish without a plastic tray when the design allows it. Paper and board grades can be supplied FSC-certified (FSC Mix or FSC Recycled) under license FSC C204557.
- Uncoated paperboard is recyclable where facilities exist. A matte lamination adds a thin film, so laminated boxes are accepted in some programs only — check locally before printing a recycling claim.
- If chocolate or macarons touch the board directly, ask for food-contact documentation and the factory's PFAS declaration with your quote; intentionally added PFAS are banned in food packaging in states including New York, California, Washington and Minnesota.
Compliance for the US and Canada
For luxury confectionery packaging, compliance is mostly about the claims you print. The FTC Green Guides require environmental claims to be specific: say "made from FSC-certified paperboard" rather than "100% eco-friendly". California SB 343 restricts the chasing-arrows symbol and "recyclable" claims to materials that meet state recyclability criteria, which matters if you choose a laminated finish.
