What LDPE bags and pouches are used for
LDPE bags and pouches are flexible plastic packaging used to protect, contain and transport products, from food to powders and industrial parts. They are product packaging, not shopping bags, and that is how Direct Eco Green positions them.
- Food — fresh or dry products such as fruit, vegetables, baked goods, tea and coffee.
- Powders — detergents, fertilizers and paints.
- Industrial goods — parts and articles that need protection from moisture and dust.
- Waste collection — household or industrial trash bags.

LDPE material and honest end-of-life claims
Direct Eco Green is clear about the material: LDPE is a plastic from the polyethylene family, supplied as granules that are melted and formed into flexible film. It is chosen for practical reasons rather than as a green material.
- Performance: light and thin, flexible enough to wrap around products, resistant to tears, impacts and punctures, and a barrier to water, air and grease.
- Recycling: LDPE film is recyclable where facilities exist, but it is often not accepted in curbside programs; check locally before printing a recyclable claim.
- Not compostable: LDPE bags are not compostable or biodegradable and should never be marketed that way.
- Recycled content: if you need recycled LDPE, ask; recycled-content documentation is confirmed in your quote.
For reusable carrier bags, see our rPET bags or PP woven and non-woven bags.
Compliance for the US and Canada
Canada: LDPE bags cannot be used as checkout bags. The Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations (SOR/2022-138) ban plastic checkout bags; manufacture and import bans began December 20, 2022, sale bans December 20, 2023, and the Federal Court of Appeal confirmed on January 30, 2026 that the rules remain in force. In Canada, use these bags only for product packaging, produce, bulk goods, industrial parts and waste.
In the US, many states and cities restrict plastic carryout bags, so check local rules before any point-of-sale use. For food packing, request the factory's FDA food-contact compliance letter (21 CFR Part 177) with your quote. Under the FTC Green Guides and California SB 343, qualify any recyclable claim and use the chasing-arrows symbol only where state criteria are met.
Custom printing and private label
Direct Eco Green produces LDPE bags and pouches to your dimensions, thickness and color, and prints your brand, product information or batch details on the film. Printing helps product identification and traceability along the supply chain. For paper-based retail packaging, combine with custom kraft paper bags in one consolidated shipment. Samples are available before mass production.
Why buy LDPE bags factory-direct from Direct Eco Green
Direct Eco Green is a manufacturer and sourcing partner, not a distributor: it works with selected, audited partner factories in Asia and Europe, checks quality on site and consolidates several product lines into one shipment. For high-volume orders this means a lower total cost of ownership, film thickness and print checked before shipping, and support with regulatory documentation.
Send your sizes, thickness, quantities and artwork through the quote form for a tailored quote within 48 hours.
Frequently asked questions
Can LDPE bags be used as checkout bags in Canada?
No. Canada's Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations ban plastic checkout bags, with sale banned since December 20, 2023. Direct Eco Green LDPE bags are positioned in Canada for product packaging, produce, bulk goods, industrial parts and waste only.
Are LDPE bags safe for food?
LDPE is commonly used for food packaging such as fruit, vegetables, baked goods, tea and coffee. For the US market, request the factory's FDA food-contact compliance letter with your quote before packing food in LDPE bags.
Are LDPE bags recyclable?
LDPE film is recyclable where facilities exist, but many curbside programs do not accept plastic film, so check locally. LDPE bags are not compostable or biodegradable, and under California SB 343 a recyclable claim must meet state criteria.
How are LDPE pouches closed?
LDPE pouches are closed either by heat sealing, which welds the edges into an airtight seal, or with an adhesive flap that the user presses shut. Choose the closure based on your packing line and whether the pouch needs to be resealable.
Can I customize the size and thickness of LDPE bags?
Yes. Direct Eco Green produces LDPE bags and pouches in sizes S, M, L or custom, with a listed 70 g/m² film or a custom thickness, in your color and with your printing. MOQ depends on size, film and printing and is stated in your quote.
